Pre-School Program - Waugh Wallabies Waugh Wallabies

Waugh Wallabies Preschool Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide the highest quality learning environment that will help prepare 4 year old students for success in kindergarten.  The Waugh wallabies Program is both academic and developmental in nature, and is taught by two credentialed teachers.  During the preschool portion of the day, students will use standards based math and reading curriculum that connects to the curriculum used in the Waugh School District.  Our primary goal is to serve students who are unable to afford preschool.  Waugh Kids Care Daycare/Preschool is able to offer free and reduced care for eligible families thanks to funding through the California Department of Education.  In addition, spaces are available for paying students.

The Waugh Wallabies Curriculum includes:
  • Direct pre-reading skills from Open Court Reading
  • Harcourt Math
  • Science exploration
  • Art
  • Music
  • Creative play
  • Outdoor play
  • Gross and fine motor skills activities
  • Visits to the Meadow Library
  • Singing, music and movement
  • Beginning Character Education focused on social skills development

Library Library

Within Waugh School District, each campus maintains and operates a library for the use and enjoyment by your child.   Each library boasts approximately 15,000 volumes consisting of both fiction and non-fiction titles.

Since the average cost of a book is nearly $20.00, the schools are concerned about their care. We have given each student a plastic LIBRARY BAG, in which they can transport their books to and from school safely, avoiding the accidental leaking water bottle, etc.  We ask all parents to explain this fact to their children and impress upon them their responsibility of checking out library materials.

Library Rules

1. Our children have a weekly library time.  Books are checked out for one week and must be returned / renewed before more checkouts are allowed.

2. There are no fines for overdue books, but we encourage their immediate return so others may also enjoy them.  If a book is overdue by three weeks, a bill may be sent home.  If the book is in its original condition, it can be returned immediately with no cost involved.

3. In the event a book is lost or damaged, the replacement cost of the book is the responsibility of the parent.
