Students visit the Corona Creek Library weekly for 30 minutes to listen to story-time, learn library skills and check out books. Kindergarteners have a 20-minute period each week. Our school participates in Scholastic Reading Counts (SRC) and those prizes are rewarded during your student’s library time. At the beginning of the year we send home a bookmark with Library Rules that we review with the students. Also, you receive a letter outlining the responsibilities of the students and their books. Please review this occasionally with your child. Encourage your student to KEEP the plastic bag we give out to use all year to protect their books in their backpacks.
All books need to be returned for check-in or renewal each week. If your child does not return one, they cannot get a new book until it is returned or renewed. This is the policy in order to teach the children good library skills. The library will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 2:45-3:00pm for returns, checkouts or research.
We have at least one Scholastic Book Fair each year, usually the first week of October. We will send out parent volunteer notices that you may return to help out. Please shop the Fair as it is our main fundraiser to be able to purchase new books for the library! There is also an Online Book Fair that runs concurrently, which is especially helpful for those of you who are unable to make it to the fair due to your schedule. The selection online is about 50% larger than the items we receive for the fair, plus there is no shipping charges for any online items you order.
Be on the lookout for the Wimpy Kid #8 flyer to come home in September! We will be completing those orders at the time of the book fair. Delivery will be around November 5th!
Watch for further announcements!
