Friendship Program & Family Fun Nights

Corona Creek Family Fun Night – October 5th

Meadow Family Fun Night – October 12th

Once again Waugh’s Friendship Program will be offering Family Fun Nights. The Friendship Program has offered K-3 students 1:1 time with an adult in playroom, as well as, the Friendship Club for the past 14 years. Many years of research, as well as our own belief in the program, indicates that the positive relationships built in the playroom and in Friendship Club increase our students school success by fostering communication skills, interpersonal skills and self-confidence. Also, imaginary play is very important to children’s development and they are given little opportunities for this kind of play today.

Last year, with the addition of a 3-year state grant we added the Family Fun Nights. These nights, offered twice a year at each school site, include dinner, games, arts & crafts, raffles, reading, and overall family fun. The goal is to have families spend some quality time together and learn about the importance of play in children’s lives.

Our first Family Fun Nights are coming up in October. Look for the others in March 2008. In October our dinner, arts & crafts, and prizes will have a Hawaiian Beach theme. So, if you missed last year come out and luau with the ladies from the Friendship Program!
