Principal Message: Mr. Bennett Holley

I hope you had a wonderful break! The students have done a great job transitioning back, and we have hit the ground running. Over the next couple of weeks, all third through sixth graders will take part in state testing known commonly as Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments (SBAC). Families can ensure their student/s are ready for testing by making sure they are not scared or anxious. Please encourage them to do their best but also let them know testing is a life skill, and they will be more successful if they can think in a calm and collected manner. Equally as important is ensuring your student receives a good night’s sleep, followed by a well-balanced nutritious breakfast. Below you'll find each grade level's state testing week.  We test during the first learning block each day (8:15-10:30 am); longer tests sometimes continue after recess.  Please be sure your student is here, on time, and ready to do their best.  Thank you, and go Cougars!

Safe Routes to School

Additionally, I want to review a couple of drop-off and pick-up procedures we need everyone to follow to ensure traffic is flowing smoothly and in a safe manner.
- When dropping off or picking up in front of the school, please remain in your car and let your student/s walk to their entrance.

- Red zones are areas to be kept open at all times. They are red for a reason and should not be utilized as a parking space.
- Parents who park and walk their student/s to school should cross the parking lot at our crosswalk. Please do not walk in front of cars unless you are in the crosswalk.
- Lastly, the road that extends to the back of our school is for staff parking and busses.  Students should not be dropped off or picked up back there. (This does not pertain to WKC families)
Thank you for observing all traffic and safety laws!
